These are the groups that I play in. Click on the name for more info.

Solo   •   I sing accompanying myself on guitar and I play instrumental tunes in many styles including rock, alternative, classical, blues, folk, reggae, celtic, flamenco, country and jazz.

Moffatt & Milliken   •   This duo with Brady Moffatt features us both singing and playing acoustic guitars on an eclectic mix of rock, folk, blues & the occasional Spanish song.

Thurman Murman   •   Moffatt & Milliken trade in our acoustic guitars for electrics and add the powerhouse rhythm section of Mike Thompson on bass and Gerard Tweedie on drums.

MILLIKEN   •   I sing and play acoustic and electric guitar in this three-piece rock band that performs a mix of funkified cover tunes and dynamic original songs.

The Priorities   •   I play bass in this 7-piece band that performs R&B, Motown, soul, swing and blues with a wicked horn section, great vocals and a lot of energy to keep the crowd dancing.

Soul Cracker   •   I play electric guitar in this 9-piece soul tribute band that sometimes has trouble fitting everyone on stage.

Duo Capriccio   •   I play classical guitar with a flutist in this duo with an extensive repertoire of renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, folk and latin music, specializing in wedding ceremonies and corporate events.

Namaoke   •   I host a unique live-music karaoke show where audience members get to sing with accompaniment by real musicians.

Andrea England   •  I have written, recorded and performed with this Nova Scotian singer-songwriter now based in Toronto.

Solo

With over 15 years of performing experience, Dave has a staggering repertoire of more than 300 popular rock, alternative, folk, blues, country and reggae songs. He is happy to do requests.

A veteran of pubs, clubs, parties and campfires, he can get people in the audience to sing along with him. He sometimes even invites them on stage with him.

With his impressive collection of pedals, Dave can layer parts with his acoustic guitar to fill out the sound so it’s as if several guitarists are playing together.

Dave performs solo and also with a percussionist for added flavour.

Dave is available for weddings, parties and corporate events.

The Priorities

The Priorities are a 7-piece band featuring Charlie Brinkworth on guitar, Dave Milliken on bass, Gerard Loehr on drums, Dave Pollard on keyboards, Mark Bailey on trumpet, Steve Guerin on trombone and Sandy Gordon on tenor saxophone. The tunes are R&B, Motown, soul, swing and blues with lots of energy and great vocals. This band is available for wedding receptions and parties as well as bar gigs.

Namaoke

After consulting with a couple of Japanese-speakers, Dave Milliken and Jonny O came up with a new term, Namaoke, to describe their live-music karaoke show. While the Japanese "kara" means empty and karaoke is essentially "empty orchestra", Namaoke represents "live orchestra". Audience members choose from a list of more than 400 songs and sign up for their turn to wow the crowd. A lyric sheet is available when they get up on stage and they sing with accompaniment by Dave on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, and by Jonny on percussion.

Andrea England

Since 1999, Nova Scotian singer-songwriter Andrea England (now based in Toronto) and Dave Milliken have been writing, recording and performing music together. They have been featured on CBC Radio, CJOH-TV and CHRO-TV. They performed at the 2000 Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Nova Scotia and the 2002 East Coast Music Awards Songwriters' Circle in Saint John, New Brunswick. In Ontario they have performed at the 2002 North By Northeast music festival and opened for Ashley MacIsaac, Tara MacLean, Jorane, Sue Medley and Kilt. Dave is featured as a guitarist and co-writer on several tracks of Andrea's latest CD entitled Lemonade which has national distribution through Maple Nationwide/Universal Music.
